Guests will be treated to a night of dancing, fine foods, silent auction treasures and much, much more, as we honor those who have lost their fight to cancer and those who are fighting or have fought the battle.
Houston’s First Annual Starlight Gala was hosted by members of the American Cancer Society Junior Board in January 1996. The Starlight Gala’s target audience is young professionals between the ages of 25 and 45. Over the past twelve years, the Starlight Gala committee has raised more than $1.1 million for research, education, advocacy and service.
Since its inception, the Starlight Gala has set the bar for many other American Cancer Society events. The gala’s highlights include festive entertainment, elegant decorations and fine dining. Guests have the opportunity to further support the Society through casino gaming, silent auction, mystery gift boxes and a raffle. One of the activities that makes the Starlight Gala unique is the dedication of the evening to a “Shining Star” cancer survivor or dedicated volunteer. Participants do more than attend the gala, they “Celebrate the Victory, Encourage the Fight, Honor the Memory” of cancer patients everywhere.
More than 100 volunteers have spent countless hours preparing for this annual black-tie event, which introduces young professionals to philanthropic fundraising. This year as we mark the 13th anniversary of the Starlight Gala, we would be delighted if you would join us for this evening of honor and remembrance.
